The Alabama Crimson Tide may be done playing games until September, but this week will be one of the most impactful of the year for the Crimson Tide. Alabama has lost its fair share of players to the portal, and they are armed and ready to add assets.

Beyond who Alabama brings in from the portal, the big question is what happens at the quarterback position. However, following the latest departure from the Crimson Tide, the defensive backfield may become an area of focus as well for Alabama.

Alabama DB Cam Calhoun enters transfer portal

You saw some of the cracks in Alabama’s defensive foundation against the Indiana Hoosiers, and the secondary was a major part of that. Alabama has a ton of young talent, but Calhoun couldn’t crack into the starting lineup, even when the team struggled at times, leaving him better off transferring. For more on the move, here is some analysis from Josh Taylor of A to Z Sports Alabama.

“There were high hopes for Calhoun when he came over from Utah, but I think this speaks volumes for the younger group of corners in Zabien Brown and Dijon Lee Jr. Calhoun only played 51 snaps, and the majority of them came against LA Monroe and E. Illinois. Alabama will certainly need to add depth through the transfer portal, but they also have three corners coming in from the 2026 recruiting class in Jorden Edmonds, Zyan Gibson, and Nick Sherman.”

“Adding some experienced players would go a long way if someone was unable to go, instead of leaning on more younger guys right away in crucial situations, with Domani Jackson heading to the NFL Draft.” – Josh Taylor

Alabama has yet to land any big fish in the portal, but with some big-time visits on deck and plenty of holes to fill, keep it locked on A to Z Sports Alabama for all the big moves and news.
