It has been a very busy week of NFL Free Agency. As fans, we have all gained a lot of excitement for our favorite teams gaining some new talent. This is also an offseason for retaining homegrown talent, and continuing to build rosters. We have also seen a lot of good players resign, or sign extensions already this offseason.
We saw the Los Angeles Chargers do so this week with a couple of college teammates. It was announced that the team has reached agreements on multi-year contract extensions with center Bradley Bozeman and punter JK Scott. Each of them were stars during their time with the Alabama football program.
Bozeman just finished up his first season with the Chargers, and started all 17 games at center during the regular season. During his seven-year career with the Chargers, Baltimore Ravens, and Carolina Panthers, Bozeman has started 94 games and played in 1173. He was originally a sixth round selection by the Ravens in the 2018 NFL Draft.
Scott was also selected in the 2018 NFL Draft, but in the fifth round to the Green Bay Packers. He is coming off of his finest season on the NFL level, averaging an outstanding 46.7 yards per punt for the Chargers. During his seven-year career with the Chargers, Packers, and Jacksonville Jaguars, Scott has played in 100 games. He has a career average of 45.1 yards per punt.
A lot of people are excited about this Charger organization for now, and into the future. The team finished with an 11-6 record, and showed drastic improvements on the defensive side of the football. On offense, the team had its moments, and must continue moving forward. Retaining Bozeman will be an important element.
