Alabama Football has done it again. Nick Saban may be gone, and some players definitely found new homes quickly thereafter, but that didn't stop new head coach Kalen DeBoer from holding down yet another top tier recruiting class for the Crimson Tide.
According to both the 247Sports Composite and On3's Industry Consensus Alabama finished with the number two high school recruiting class in the nation behind only the Georgia Bulldogs.
How did they do it? It certainly wasn't easy with all of the change. And if it weren't for two key blue chip recruits sticking to their commitments on National Signing Day we would be talking about Alabama's class in a completely different light.
Two Blue Chip Recruits That Saved Alabama's 2024 Recruiting Class
As we just covered on Tuesday here at A to Z Sports, Alabama had two of the top five unsigned college football commits who still needed to sign heading into National Signing Day. Five star wide receiver, Ryan Williams and Top-100 four star edge defender, Noah Carter.
Ryan Williams reclassified from the 2025 recruiting class to 2024, and there was buzz he may flip to Auburn in the last month, but he ended up sticking with Alabama after all. In fact, when asked if he thought there ever a chance when he decommitted that he wasn't going to Alabama, he said no. Here he is in an interview below with more on his commitment to Alabama.
Noah Carter felt like a safer bet to avoid a flip on National Signing Day than Ryan Williams because he was following Kalen DeBoer from Washington, but that didn't stop several schools from pursuing him up until the last minute.
Here's Carter talking through his transition from Washington in an interview on Wednesday morning.
Carter was sad to leave Washington, but according to him "[Alabama] was one of his dream schools" to play for, so that certainly made the decision to transfer much easier.
Kalen DeBoer will need to prove his abilities in building a recruiting class from scratch here soon, but holding together this top five class for Alabama is a great start in proving that he could very well be the long-term replacement for Nick Saban.
