The Alabama Crimson Tide looked to be in the mix for a new starting cornerback as Isaiah Williams was set to visit Tuscaloosa. However, things changed quickly, as the Houston Cougars transfer has opted against continuing the recruitment process with Alabama. The Ole Miss Rebels have earned a crystal ball prediction for the 6-foot-1, 176-pounder.

This is a tough blow for the Crimson Tide, who would've slid the 4-star transfer into its defensive backfield. The senior from Houston, Texas, started every game in 2023, logging four picks, 50 tackles, and ranking seventh amongst Big 12 cornerbacks in PFF grades. Despite his lean frame, he was an impact starter, ranking as the No. 2 undecided cornerback left on the transfer market.

Since the spring window opened, new head coach Kalen DeBoer has seen 12 players enter the portal, but only one departure. Of course, that doesn't count the immediate losses after Nick Saban retired. Alabama brought back Kadyn Proctor from Iowa, defensive back Kameron Howard (Charlotte), and kicker Graham Nicholson (Miami, OH).

Overall, it's been an underwhelming process for DeBoer. Incoming freshmen corners Zabien Brown, Red Morgan, Zavier Mincey, and Jaylen Mbakwe will compete to start alongside fellow transfer Domani Jackson. It's a far cry from the duo of Terrion Arnold and Kool-Aid McKinstry.

With former 5-star cornerback Cormani McClain still available in the portal, it's surprising the Tide hasn't gotten involved in the Colorado transfer race. He's possibly heading to UCF or USF, which is an incredible downgrade for the talented defender. Alabama has to be concerned about entering DeBoer's first year without a stud anchoring the unit.

Losing Trey Amos to Ole Miss stings even more now. Barring someone like Texas sophomore Terrance Brooks coming in, the Tide might be forced to roll with one of the youngest positional groups in recent memory.
