The official visit circuit continues from June 14 through the 16, and Alabama is looking to build on its consensus top-five 2025 recruiting class with a strong weekend. Head coach Kalen DeBoer is bringing in a slew of recruits who have been considered leans or commits elsewhere, so the Crimson Tide recruiting plan needs to be tight.
Who is coming to campus this weekend? Let's look at each of the key players.
Top Alabama Flip Candidate: Akylin Dear
Ole Miss secured a commitment from the top running back in the nation in March, choosing them over Alabama and several other programs. The Crimson Tide was in the running, primarily because Robert Gillespie was kept on DeBoer's coaching team.
"To tell you the truth, if he would have left (Alabama would be out), but since coach G there, that's my guy," he told Bama247 in late February.
DeBoer and Kane Wommack visited the 6-foot-1, 200-pounder during the January open contact period. "Amazing," Dear said of the conversation. "Because that's Alabama's new head coach. You know how that is. So, I was like 'it was mind blowing'."
Dear is familiar with Alabama, having visited several times before, and this upcoming visit is focused on getting to know the offensive coaching staff better. He recently made an official visit to Florida last week and has plans to visit Texas A&M from June 21 to 23. Despite his strong commitment to Ole Miss, the fact that Dear is revisiting the campus is considered a significant achievement.
Other Alabama Flip Candidate: Harry Dalton III
On April 7, Harry Dalton announced his commitment to USC. The versatile 5-foot-10, 205-pound athlete from Dinwiddie (VA) High School had an impressive junior year, showcasing his skills both as a quarterback and a running back.
Dalton successfully completed 107 out of 203 passes, a 53% completion rate, amassing 1,662 passing yards and 16 touchdowns, against 10 interceptions. On the ground, he carried the ball 175 times, accumulating 1,295 yards and scoring 27 touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Alabama has secured a commitment from four-star recruit Anthony Rogers for the running back position. Other prospects to keep an eye on include Jordon Davison, Shekai Mills-Knight, and Jamarion Morrow.
Potentially Near Alabama Commits
Marshall Pritchett, TE
The prospect from the Peach State committed to North Carolina in the latter part of March. He attended the first spring practice under DeBoer in Tuscaloosa, but since he didn't get an offer, he chose to commit to the Tar Heels.
Earlier in the spring, the athlete, who stands at 6-foot-5 and weighs 211 pounds, mentioned that an offer from Alabama could alter his decision. This became reality when he received an offer from Bryan Ellis in the middle of May. Since then, he has been setting up plans for an official visit.
Travis Smith Jr., WR
Smith is nearing the point of making a decision and is set to return to campus for the third time since the coaching staff changed. At 6 feet 4 inches and 191 pounds, he only has a few more visits planned. Smith has consistently expressed high regard for JaMarcus Shephard, even describing him as an ideal coach for receivers.
He commenced the month with an official visit to Athens, Georgia, followed by a trip to Auburn last week. Smith plans to conclude this eventful month with a visit to Tennessee from June 21st to 23rd. He has scheduled July 13th as the date to announce his decision.
Jackson Lloyd, OT
Lloyd embarked on his third visit to Alabama, continuing his impressive streak as a top recruit in offensive tackle, known for his ability to hit home runs and dunk. He was among the earliest to visit after DeBoer took over.
Standing at 6'7" and weighing 290 pounds, Lloyd first visited the campus in January and then made another trip to witness a spring practice session in March. His bond with DeBoer, which began with his recruitment at Washington, is particularly strong, and Lloyd has described his experience in Alabama as having the best of both worlds.
His recent official visit to Ohio State last weekend seemed to have left a significant mark on him, indicating that the recruitment might be narrowing down to a tug-of-war between the Buckeyes and the Crimson Tide. To wrap up his visits in June, Lloyd has an official trip planned to USC.
Malachi Goodman, OL
Chris Kapilovic extended an offer to Malachi Goodman in March, and by April, Goodman made his first visit to Alabama for several days. Following this trip, plans for an official visit were quickly set in motion. This earlier visit in spring offered Goodman the opportunity to observe the coaches firsthand.
"It was a good opportunity because I got to see a little bit of what the offensive line looks like in a game," he explained at the time. "Coach (Kapilovic) is cool. He cares about his players and wants to develop them as much as possible."
Previously, Goodman has completed official visits to Auburn, Penn State, and Georgia, and he is scheduled to conclude a hectic month with a visit to USC from June 21 to June 23.
Justin Hill, ATH
Justin Hill, a promising player, has a significant decision ahead. The athlete, standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 220 pounds, is scheduling his final visits before a commitment. He plans to visit Tuscaloosa for an official visit and then head to Oregon the following weekend, all leading up to his commitment date on July 3.
So far this month, Hill has officially visited Ohio State and USC. The standout from Winton Woods High School in Ohio returned to the campus for the first time since the coaching staff was revamped during the A-Day in April. Hill, who made several visits during Nick Saban's tenure, remains very interested in the Crimson Tide.
The relationships between Kane Wommack and Christian Robinson are seemingly influential in his consideration of Alabama. It's also been noted that his visit to the Buckeyes made a significant impact, positioning them as perhaps the frontrunners in his recruitment process.
