The Iron Bowl got a little extra juice on Monday thanks to some comments from Auburn Tigers freshman linebacker Demarcus Riddick.

Riddick, a former four-star recruit from Clanton, AL, met with reporters on Monday and he dropped a quote about the Alabama Crimson Tide that he might end up regretting.

The true freshman said that Alabama true freshman wide receiver Ryan Williams isn't a big time player. Riddick also added that he "will not lose to Bama" while he's at Auburn.

"Ryan Williams is Ryan Williams," said Riddick. "Yeah he's electric, he's all this and that, but in my eyes, he ain't really nobody to me. Ryan Williams is himself, he ain't no big time player to me."

"Like I said, Bama is a big rival team," continued Riddick. "Every rival team I've played, I've never lost to. And I will not lose to Bama while I'm here."

Riddick also said that he's faster than Crimson Tide quarterback Jalen Milroe, while also promising that the Alabama quarterback "will not get out of the box" this weekend.

Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze is probably beside himself right now.

The last thing either team should do before playing in the Iron Bowl is give the other team bulletin board material

And Riddick just provided Alabama with a ridiculous amount of bulletin board material.

For starters, Williams is an absolute superstar. The former five-star wide receiver won't turn 18 until February and he's already making SEC defenders look silly. The play he made to help Alabama beat Georgia earlier this season is one of the best plays I've ever seen by a wide receiver at any level.

Suggesting that Williams isn't a "big time player" is just wildly inaccurate.

Secondly, Riddick guaranteeing that he's never going to lose to Alabama is beyond wild. Maybe he proves to be correct — no one knows how the games will play out — but Auburn hasn't even won back to back games in this rivalry since 2006 and 2007. It seems unlikely that the Tigers are going to suddenly break out a three or four game winning streak against the Crimson Tide — especially with Hugh Freeze's longterm future at the program seemingly in doubt.

Alabama is coming into this game a bit wounded. They know they're a longshot to reach the College Football Playoff after losing to Oklahoma last weekend. Coming into this week, it wasn't unreasonable to think that Alabama could have a bit of a letdown against Auburn.

Riddick's comments, however, likely erased that possibility. The Crimson Tide should have plenty of motivation now to bring the fight to Auburn for 60 minutes in Tuscaloosa on Saturday afternoon.
