Auburn Tigers head coach Bruce Pearl tried to take a swipe at the Alabama Crimson Tide on Thursday, but I'm not sure his heart was totally in it.
Pearl met with reporters on Thursday ahead of Auburn's upcoming matchup against the Ole Miss Rebels in Oxford.
While previewing the game against Ole Miss, Pearl pointed out that the Rebels are the only team this season to beat Alabama in Tuscaloosa.
"This Ole Miss team is the only team to beat Alabama at Alabama," said Pearl. "You know, as Auburn's coach, of course I have to get that in."
Ole Miss beat Alabama 74-64 on January 13.
That's a fun swipe from Pearl, but it's pretty tame as far as rivalries go.
But then again, maybe that's a good thing for Auburn. The last thing Pearl wants to do is give Alabama some added motivation before the two teams meet for the first time this season (February 15 in Tuscaloosa).
Auburn and Alabama are two of the top teams in the sport. It should be a fun one next month in Tuscaloosa (and then again in early March when the Crimson Tide travel to Auburn).
