President Donald Trump has been no stranger to visiting the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa over the years. After attending several high-profile games from 2019 through 2024, Trump has taken a special interest in the area. The Tide is 1-1 in his visits.

Trump delivered an early commencement speech at Coleman Coliseum. Just before Trump took the stage, former Alabama head coach Nick Saban spoke at the podium.

Trump offered some advice to Crimson Tide athletic director Greg Byrne, suggesting that Saban should consider coming out of retirement. While he praised the College Football Hall of Famer, he soon shifted his attention to Kalen DeBoer.

“What a great coach,” Trump said of Saban. “Let’s bring him back. No, you have a good coach right now, though.”

Saban has been out of coaching for just one season, and he swiftly transitioned into the media with great success. He has adapted well to his role on ESPN College GameDay, where he joins Rece Davis, Desmond Howard, Pat McAfee, and Kirk Herbstreit without any noticeable difficulties.

Chances are, Trump won't get what he hopes for. Saban is likely to continue his work with ESPN, and his only connection to Alabama games will be from a suite at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Saban's wife, known lovingly as Miss Terry, will join him, unless GameDay's schedule conflicts with kickoff.
