In terms of top running backs in the 2026 recruiting class, there might not be a more talented one than Jackson (Al.) High School star runner Ezavier Crowell. Considering he is from the state of Alabama, Crowell is a priority recruit for the home-state Alabama Crimson Tide. He is right at the top of their 2026 board.
Alabama is in a pretty good spot, but they are battling with some other impressive programs. Crowell released a top six schools list earlier this week. The Crimson Tide were on that list, along with Ohio State, Georgia, Texas, Auburn, and Florida State. Each school has had some outstanding levels of success from a running back development perspective over the last several years.
Quite simply, Alabama needs to do their best to keep the top talent in the state at home. Crowell fits that description perfectly. They must fend off some of the nation’s elite for the dynamic runner.
Crowell is considered a consensus top 100 recruit by every major recruiting platform. He currently sits as a five-star player on the 247sports Composite ranking, sitting as the No. 27 overall player, and No. 2 running back in the 2026 class. Crowell is also considered the No. 3 player in the state of Alabama.
Aside from his finalists, Crowell has also been pursued by some of the very best programs in all of college football. His other top offers include Ohio State, Michigan, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Penn State, Florida, Miami, USC, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Nebraska, Mississippi State, UNC, Arkansas, Georgia Tech, Virginia, Purdue, Colorado, and Arizona among several others.
Crowell is coming off of a tremendous 2024 season for Jackson. In 15 games, he rushed for 1,964 yards and 31 touchdowns while averaging a stellar 11.7 yards per carry. The 5-11, 215-pound runner also hauled in another nine receptions for 258 yards and two scores.
