The rapid one-year fall of Isaiah Bond will be one of the most heartbreaking and forboding examples of how life can quickly change with a few missteps. Less than one year after being a projected first-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, Bond is still not on an NFL roster as Tuesday morning rolls around.

His 2025 NFL Draft weekend was horrible, and it's not as if his 2024 season with Texas was much better. His transfer away from Alabama was supposed to help him fill Xavier Worthy's role and boost his stock from a Day 2 player to top 20 lock.

He went as so far as to publicly announce his transfer as a business decision.

"Just like the business world, you make the best decision for your company," Bond said after transferring. "My company right now is my draft stock. I feel like I'm putting myself in position to increase that and have better draft stock."

That obviously didn't happen. While his on-field production was disappointing, totaling only 34 passes for 540 yards and five touchdowns, his off-field actions caused the current situation. He has a sexual assault charge pending for an April 10 arrest.

On top of the disturbing charge and quote backfiring, Bond was one of several prospects who were victims of prank calls during the draft.

An Alabama fan called Bond during the draft, pretending to be the Atlanta Falcons, and claiming he was being drafted.

No one will feel overly bad for Bond on the prank call until the charge is justly settled, but his story will be one that must be used as an example on multiple fronts. Bond had been labeled as a me-first diva who bought into his hype while at Alabama and Texas.

His lack of effort in the run game and issues fitting into an offense that seemed perfect for a breakout had already put Bond's stock closer to Round 3 than the first. But the off-field concerns must now be settled before Bond gets a real opportunity.
