The Alabama Crimson Tide and the Indiana Hoosiers will meet on New Year’s Day in the second round of the College Football Playoff.

Alabama advanced to the second round after erasing a 17-point deficit on the road in the first round against the Oklahoma Sooners. The Crimson Tide’s 34-24 win over the Sooners ended Alabama’s two-game losing streak to Oklahoma.

Indiana, meanwhile, is the top overall seed in the playoff, so the Hoosiers had a bye in the first round as a result.

Former Georgia Bulldogs star predicts who will win the Alabama vs Indiana matchup

Former Georgia Bulldogs star defensive lineman David Pollack previewed the Alabama vs. Indiana game on the latest See Ball Get Ball podcast.

Pollack has Indiana ending Alabama’s season in large part because of the Crimson Tide’s recent struggles in the run game.

“I don’t think it’s possible,” said Pollack while discussing if Alabama can find success in the run game. “And Alabama fans get mad at me sometimes because I tell the truth, and they don’t like that. They think I’m somehow talking against them…..Does Alabama on the offensive line have a talent problem? Do they have untalented guys? Do they have small, tiny guys? Their center is pretty small. Besides that, do they have small, tiny guys? They are big physical dudes that should be able to move me. They should be able to move people. It doesn’t make sense. The lack of toughness and physicality on the offensive line, it doesn’t make sense.”

“I think this is the end of the line for the Tide,” added Pollack. “Even though I like the fact that they won (against Oklahoma). I like the fact that they got down 17. That shows you something about the heart of this team and Ty Simpson and company.”

Alabama rushed for just 28 yards in the win over Oklahoma. The Crimson Tide had -3 rushing yards in their loss to Georgia in the SEC Championship game earlier this month. There’s certainly reason to worry about Alabama’s run game. But the Tide also proved against Oklahoma that they can erase a 17-point deficit without having to run the ball consistently well.

Indiana and Alabama kick off at 4:00 p.m. ET on New Year’s Day.
