Jalen Milroe didn’t play many snaps during his rookie year in the NFL, but he didn’t have to. Around 9:30 local time in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, on Sunday night, Milroe did something that no other quarterback in the history of the program has done.

Not Jalen Hurts, or Bryce Young, not even Bart Starr and Joe Namath did what Milroe has done as a rookie, and before you discredit it, think again when it comes to the former Alabama Crimson Tide signal caller.

Jalen Milroe Alabama Facts

  • Led the team to the Rose Bowl during the 2023 season.
  • Beat the Georgia Bulldogs in the 2023 SEC Championship.
  • Ranks first all-time in Alabama history for QB rushing TDs with 33.

Jalen Milroe becomes the first Alabama quarterback to win a Super Bowl in rookie season

Sure, Milroe didn’t play in the Super Bowl, and he only appeared in three games all season for the Seattle Seahawks. I understand that he was the third-string quarterback behind Sam Darnold and Drew Lock for most of the season.

That doesn’t change the fact that the next time all the modern Alabama quarterbacks get together, Milroe, along with Jalen Hurts, will be the only ones with Super Bowl rings. Oh, and if the Milroe detractors say he had no impact on winning, think again.

The Seahawks boasted arguably the best defense in the league this season. It was on full display against the New England Patriots. You know what is vital to a defense during the year and certainly during the playoffs leading up to the Super Bowl? Scout team. You know who played scout team quarterback for the Seahawks this season? Milroe.

The simple fact is that if you polled an average Alabama fan, they would likely have bet that Tua, Mac Jones, or even Young would have won a Super Bowl before Milroe. The NFL is a funny business, and despite not playing much and just taking mental reps, Milore is the one who will have a ring on his finger come the 2026 NFL season, which not many saw coming.
