The Alabama Crimson Tide is looking to prove that it deserves its spot in the College Football Playoff with a rematch against the Oklahoma Sooners in the first round.

One of the biggest reasons for Alabama’s recent struggles has been injuries that started to add up at key positions. The most notable has been in the running back room, with Jam Miller getting banged up in the Iron Bowl after rushing for 83 yards. Miller has had a couple of injuries this season, and Alabama hasn’t established the run that well without him.

The game is just under a week away, and it looks like Alabama could be getting Miller back for kickoff.

Jam Miller is back at practice for Alabama

As Alabama continues its preparation for Oklahoma, it saw the one thing it has been dying to see with Miller back at practice on Friday for the first time.

Miller was on crutches after the Iron Bowl game and was later seen in a boot as the team walked into the SEC Championship against the Georgia Bulldogs. There was optimism that Miller could return, but he didn’t. Alabama had -3 rushing yards as a team against Georgia in the SEC Championship, and it has to have a ground game to beat Oklahoma.

Kalen DeBoer knows how important Jam Miller is to the team

One of the biggest cases against Alabama making the College Football Playoff was their poor running game all season. DeBoer argued that Miller’s absence throughout the season as the team’s leading rusher hasn’t helped.

“We’re not here to make excuses,” DeBoer said. “You’ve got to credit Georgia for what they did — but you’re playing without some guys, but you’re also playing with guys that are on one leg or have one arm. A couple of weeks here, we could look like a whole different team. That’s really the reality of it. “Some teams get 2-3 weeks. That would be a whole different world we’d be living in. It isn’t the case. “This program never makes excuses, but we certainly want to continue to move forward. Feel like we’ve got a team that can go do some big things in the postseason and got to wait until tomorrow to see what happens.”

Alabama had the first matchup against Oklahoma, but costly turnovers gave the Sooners the win. In a game when the Crimson Tide ran for 80 yards, two touchdowns, and threw for 330 more yards, the Sooners won. Miller’s return is a huge boost to Alabama’s chances of getting back on track and keeping its season alive.
