Two of the best games of Johnny Manziel’s college football career at Texas A&M came against the Alabama Crimson Tide in 2012 and 2013. A big-time upset that put Johnny Football on the map, his 29-24 upset over Alabama in 2012 was a hallmark in his career.

But the Tide would come back in 2013, winning 49-42 in an instant classic that still is talked about in SEC lore. So it’s safe to say Alabama fans and Manziel don’t have the best relationship. That they aren’t exactly simpatico.

Well, Manziel confirmed that with the double birds when it was clear that Alabama had taken care of Vanderbilt on Saturday night.

Johnny Manziel flicks off Alabama Fans vs. Vanderbilt

Manziel was seen consoling Diego Pavia on the Vanderbilt sideline once it was clear that Alabama had this one in the bag. But after giving encouragement to the distraught signal caller, he turned and gave the Alabama faithful the double birds to show his disdain.

So there is a lot going on here. Manziel has become a media personality if you will, but why he’s on the sideline of Vandy is beyond me. Maybe he was there as a mentor of Diego Pavia. Honestly, there are a lot of similarities between the two.

Smaller players who wore the number two, played in the SEC and talked a lot of trash. Except Manziel tended to back up his talk. He won a Heisman Trophy after all. But what happened to Pavia after saying he expected to dominate Alabama? Oh, that’s right, he and his offense were held scoreless in the second half and he had two turnovers. Then the Alabama Crimson Tide let him hear about it after the game.

“The crowd, I think, is going to be a big factor in the game. But we just gotta play within the white lines. If we do that, if we play our game, it won’t be close.”

Safe to say it wasn’t close. Just not the way Pavia hoped for.
