Alabama Crimson Tide and Kalen DeBoer predicted to land a local star over an expanding list of impressive offers
Alabama football appears poised to close the deal with a high upside local star.
Head coach Kalen DeBoer and Alabama football hold just four commitments in the 2027 recruiting class, but we are going to start to see that group fill up during the latter stages of this offseason. As always, the Crimson Tide are on some of the very best overall players in the class. There are several top names to know right now.
Alabama is also still hot on the trail for several underrated recruiting targets, which does include 2027 Mobile (Ala.) McGill Toolen defensive lineman Avrian “AJ” Pauley. The talented in-state performer has been attracting the attention of several top programs over the last couple of months. Even with that demand, the Crimson Tide has maintained momentum for Pauley.
According to Chad Simmons from the Rivals network, things are in a great place between Alabama and Pauley. So much so that Simmons logged an expert prediction for Pauley to land with the Crimson Tide. It will be interesting to see if DeBoer and company are able to solidify this one in the somewhat near future.
If and when Pauley does land with Alabama, it is going to be a move that largely goes under the radar due to his current recruiting rankings. This would be, however, an extremely underrated addition with one of the highest upside of any defensive linemen in the 2027 recruiting class. The talent is certainly there. Whatever team Pauley lands with, it’ll be up to that coaching staff to get the most out of the local strandout.
Avrian Pauley’s recruiting background
From a recruiting rankings perspective, Pauley’s profile isn’t going to blow anyone away. He is considered to be a consensus three-star player by each of the major recruiting platforms. On the 247 Sports Composite ranking, Pauley is currently rated as the No. 525 overall player, the No. 62 defensive lineman, and the No. 21 player from the state of Alabama for the 2027 recruiting class. Despite those rankings, some impressive suitors have been pursuing the Alabama native heavily.
Pauley has seen more and more programs begin to push for him this offseason. Some of his top offers currently include the Crimson Tide, Michigan, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Florida State, and Georgia Tech, among others. Don’t be surprised if that offer list continues to populate leading up to his senior season. While he is a bit raw of a player, the 6-5, 265-pound defender has plenty of tools to work with.
