One of the Alabama Crimson Tide's top 2026 recruiting targets made a very encouraging comment about his recruitment this week.
2026 four-star defensive lineman Elijah Golden, 6-foot-4/260 lbs from Sarasota, FL, is rated by 247Sports as the No. 1 defensive lineman in the nation.
Florida, Miami, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and South Carolina, along with Alabama, are among the programs in the mix for Golden.
Alabama, however, is the program that appears to be out in front in the recruiting battle for Golden.
The talented defensive lineman, in fact, told On3 that he can envision himself in a Crimson Tide uniform.
“The way they are recruiting me and how they are a winning program has Alabama up there for me,” said Golden to On3. “I feel like I can see myself in an Alabama uniform.”
Golden is set to take a couple of unofficial visits to Tuscaloosa in the spring (March 22 and April 4).
The Florida native told 247Sports earlier this month that he could commit on December 4, though that's not set in stone.
"I am trying to wait and let things play out," said Golden. "I might commit on Dec. 4."
This recruiting battle is obviously far from over, but it's certainly trending in the right direction for Alabama. Golden is a player that every program in the country would love to have on their roster.
