The Arkansas Razorbacks are nowhere near one of the elite football programs in the country. They may not even be in the next two tiers. But, as a school in the SEC, they have something important to offer their recruits that other big-time schools maybe can't.

College football is dominated by the teams who recruit the best. The Georgia Bulldogs, Alabama, Oklahoma, Texas, Michigan, and Ohio State types of programs are the teams that run college football. And some of that is because of NIL, some of it is because they have built a reputation of being a school that will help you learn how to win while also getting you into the NFL.

So, what does a school like Arkansas have to offer in football, if they can never seem to string together consecutive winning seasons, and can never hire the right coach? Well, it's simple really. Look no further than their latest big signing – linebacker Tavion Wallace.

Wallace was a four-star recruit out of Georgia, with offers from the Bulldogs, Florida State, and another big school. Many of them were much better programs than the Razorbacks have up in Fayetteville. But, that's not always what matters.

When Wallace was asked about why he chose Arkansas, he said that the visit made him feel different and that he instantly knew and then prayed about it. He didn't say this, but I'm sure a large portion of his decision also came down to potentially getting to play big-time snaps in the SEC right away, rather than having to wait your turn, like he would at Georgia with a stacked defense.

All of the crystal ball predictions had Wallace going to Florida State or Georgia, and rightfully so, as those are the better programs with likely more NIL to offer. But in the case of Arkansas, he can get great on-field development in his first year.

And, who knows, after playing some big-time snaps in his first year, who is to say he doesn't transfer to a school where he can win and get more recognition for the NFL? That is simply what Arkansas can offer that other big-time schools with stacked rosters cannot.
