The Auburn Tigers were favored to win by seven points on Saturday, but quarterback Diego Pavia once again upended Hugh Freeze. Pavia, who has been one of the most impactful transfer additions from last offseason, won his third game against Freeze. Vanderbilt scored 10 points in the second half to complete their 17-7 win.

The Tigers, who are holding onto one of the best 2025 recruiting classes in the nation, were hoping to win their fourth game of the season and win over 5-star Ohio State commit Na'eem Offord. Instead, the Tigers' offense couldn't convert opportunities, and the defense was left guessing with Vandy's option-based attack.

The numbers favored Auburn, but situational play again cost them. At 3-6 overall and 1-5 in the SEC, the Tigers are likely only keeping Freeze as their coach because of buyout considerations and his 2025 recruiting class.

Pavia, who only completed 9-of-22 passes for 143 yards and two scores, has a tremendous track record against Freeze. He won twice at New Mexico state against Freeze, including one game against Liberty in 2022 and then Auburn in 2023. It's the most random rival you could imagine.

Best yet, each was a road game, and Pavia was an underdog each time. Go figure.

And, of course, the memes came quickly after the game.
