It didn't take long for Bill Belichick to decide who he wanted to help him lead at the University of North Carolina.
Vegas Sports Information Network (VSiN) announced that host Michael Lombardi is leaving to join Belichick at UNC and will serve as the football program's general manager.
“I’m excited to join Coach Belichick at North Carolina,” Lombardi said in a statement released by VSiN. “Although leaving my VSIN family will be hard, I’m excited to return to helping build a winning program. I’m forever thankful for all the great people at VSIN, especially Bill Adee and the Musburger family.”
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport further reported that Lombardi was "essential" is helping Belichick secure the gig.
Lombardi is bringing a lot of experience, both at the NFL and college level. And he has experience working with Belichick, serving as an assistant with the Patriots from 2014-16.
So the two will look to turn the Tar Heels program around after the team parted ways with Mack Brown.
And Belichick might have a few other tricks up his sleeve, with coaches such as Matt Patricia and Josh McDaniels currently without a job.
Let's see who else he brings in.
