Ohio State and elite recruiting go hand in hand when it comes to one specific position in the game.

Brian Hartline and the Buckeyes go out and get who they want at wideout and they develop it into NFL talent like no other program at this time.

Former Buckeyes wide receiver and current New York Jets star Garrett Wilson explained why the Buckeyes are getting it done at wide receiver in a recent interview with local media.

Wilson was a part of the 2019 class and the No. 2 wideout. Wilson came into that class with Jameson Williams. Both are in the NFL currently and Wilson has had back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons. Marvin Harrison Jr. came in the 2021 class and turned into a first-rounder and Emeka Egbuka could be one next year from the same class.

“The main thing is we know how to practice. We make practice as hard as possible so the game is what it is,” Wilson explained. “When you have these other five stars around you. At my time it was Jameson [Williams], Chris Olave, and Marvin [Harrison]. We all was competitive as hell.”

Currently for the Buckeyes from the 2023 class, Carnell Tate and Brandon Inniss should see more of a role this coming season and have a chance to be special for the Buckeyes. Jeremiah Smith and Milan Graham are incoming freshmen and both were five-star talents that have a chance to be very good. Smith was the No. 1 player in the 2024 recruiting class.

Ohio State is already after it in the 2025 class with five-stars Dakorien Moore and Jaime Ffrench being two wideouts the Buckeyes are really after.

One thing with all of the wide receivers coming through Ohio State is that they are being recruited by Brian Hartline and he’s getting it done at a high level. The former NFL standout and Buckeye himself is at the top of his coaching title in the country.

“We obviously got a great coach there that gets this thing rolling and instills it in us.”
