The NIL era has changed the landscape of college football in multiple ways, many of which are for the positive as some of the nation's best prospects are able to capitalize monetarily on their own name.

In the past, there had been some controversy over how others outside of the athlete were cashing in on the name without the individual having the ability to do it themselves because of NCAA rules.

Many of the top earners are quarterbacks who will be looking to raise their draft stock and expand upon their NIL value in 2024. When On3 released its NIL earnings rankings, eight of the players listed in the top 10 were quarterbacks.

Colorado's Shedeur Sanders lead the pack at $4.6 million with Travis Hunter (Colorado, $2.7 million), Arch Manning (Texas, $2.4 million), Quinn Ewers (Texas, $1.9 million), Jalen Milroe (Alabama, $1.6 million), Carson Beck (Georgia, $1.6 million), Jaxson Dart (Ole Miss, $1.5 million), Dillon Gabriel (Oregon, $1.4 million), Nico Iamaleava (Tennessee, $1.3 million) and Evan Stewart (Oregon, $1.3 million) behind him in that order.

Of that list, Hunter and Stewart stand out as the only two non-quarterbacks with similarly competitive earnings.

Sanders is clearly the top earner here by a significant margin with multiple notable NIL deals since he started off his college career at Jackson State under his head coach and father, Deion Sanders. That's only continued as the pair have taken Colorado.

The younger Sanders has inked contracts with almost too many companies to count, including  Beats By Dre, Topps, Under Armour, Gatorade and Mercedes-Benz and others.

His $4.6 million puts him $2.2 million ahead of the next quarterback on this list. That's Manning, who makes an estimated roughly $0.5 million more than Ewers, who is currently starting over him for the Longhorns.

Here's a look at how all the top quarterbacks rank in NIL earnings rankings within the highest earners.

It will be interesting to watch how these numbers evolve throughout the season and what they look like in comparison when the 2024 season is in the books.
