Top Florida Gator commit won’t stop putting pressure on elite recruit to come to Gainesville, and it could flip the script
The work of one Florida Gators recruit could land them their first five-star in the 2026 class.
Monday was a great day for Florida Gators coach Billy Napier when it comes to recruiting. The Gators landed four-star wide receiver Davian Groce and received an expert prediction to land five-star quarterback Elijah Haven in the 2027 recruiting class. Groce’s commitment brought the Gators’ class up to 19 commits in the 2026 class, vaulting the Gators past Tennessee and Clemson to 12th in the national recruiting rankings, according to On3/Rivals.
However, Napier and the Gators’ work isn’t done yet. They still have multiple targets across the board, and one of them is set to commit on Tuesday.
Florida Gators commit KJ Ford working hard to recruit five-star Jake Kruel
The next big player to make his commitment is five-star edge rusher Jake Kruel. He’s likely choosing from his top three of Ole Miss, Oklahoma, and Texas. Even with the Gators not in his top three, they might not be out of it just yet.
Four-star edge rusher KJ Ford, out of Duncanville, Texas, is actively trying to bring Kruel to the Gators. He was tweeting at Kruel to come to Florida and create the best defensive line last week, and he continued on Monday night, less than 24 hours until Kruel makes his commitment.
It’s interesting that Ford has been putting the pressure on Kruel. The IMG Academy product is set to commit on Tuesday morning on The Pat McAfee Show. It’s not that Kruel is from the state of Florida, while that does play into things. It’s that Kruel grew up a Gators fan.
If Ford’s work ends up landing the Gators Kruel, it would be a huge addition to the 2026 recruiting class, and one that could elevate the 2026 class into the top 10, which would be massive for Napier, as he continues to build up the football program in Gainesville.

Key Florida commitment puts the ball in elite defender’s court to join him as a Gator
The Florida Gators‘ recruiting class for 2026 is relatively strong in terms of depth, but lacks the star power of head coach Billy Napier‘s best classes. As things sit right now, the Gators have 18 commitments, ranking them 14th in the 2026 class and seventh in the SEC. Where things aren’t the strongest is at […]
