Things are not looking great for Florida Gators quarterback DJ Lagway.

According to multiple sources, Lagway is dealing with a lower body injury described as a calf strain.

This is tough news for the Gators to get just ahead of the start of fall camp. The above report states that he’s dealing with a calf strain and is currently in a walking boot.

This comes after Lagway didn’t throw at all during spring practice with what was initially described as a shoulder injury. Chris Doering later said that he heard it was a hernia that was causing all the issues. Either way, it’s a tough blow for the Gators.

What does this mean for Lagway in both the long and short term? For starters, it could mean that Lagway misses the start of fall camp. That’s not the worst case scenario, but not one the Gators want to deal with after he missed all of spring practice.

Long term, this could be a massive blow for Billy Napier’s squad. He’s on the hot seat after going 19-19 in his first three seasons with Lagway the key piece to elevating the Gators out of the basement of the SEC East.

Right now, this is a wait and see kind of situation, as a calf strain as described could be brutal or just one that requires a week or two of rest.

This is an evolving story and we will keep you updated as we know more.
