Making the College Football Playoff is going to be a major focus for the Florida Gators this year. Head coach Billy Napier is firmly on the hot seat going into the year, and making the playoff will save his job.

This roster is built for a potential playoff run, and it’s going to start with quarterback DJ Lagway. We know that Lagway is primed to be a Heisman Trophy candidate and potential All-American. He won’t be able to do it all himself, as a bevy of wide receiver options is going to be crucial to his success this season.

Billy Napier is high on Dallas Wilson

The wide receiver position has been a very intriguing one over the course of the last decade. They have had a great track record of having wide receivers drafted, including Ricky Pearsall in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, and Chimere Dike was selected in the fourth round this past April

While both Eugene Wilson III and J. Michael Sturdivant are likely to be selected in the 2025 NFL Draft, as Sturdivant will be out of eligibility. Arguably the best prospect of them all is true freshman Dallas Wilson, who took the college football world by storm with his record-setting spring game performance of 10 catches for 195 yards and two touchdowns.

Needless to say, head coach Billy Napier knows how good Wilson can be.

“He’s a problem. He’s a problem. He’s exceptional,” Florida coach Billy Napier said of Wilson on Wednesday night. “He’ll be a major factor this year. So, we’re excited about Dallas for sure.”

Wilson has been dealing with an injury during fall camp and isn’t likely to play against Long Island on Saturday. It’s unfortunate because it would be the perfect game for him to get his feet wet. If he can get healthy prior to next Saturday’s game against South Florida, he will have an opportunity to get onto the field before the meat of the schedule starts against LSU and Miami (FL).
