Florida Gators Football Transfer Portal: Tracking all of the commitments playing for Jon Sumrall, and those who decide to play elsewhere
The Florida Gators will be active in the transfer portal this year in both retaining players and seeing others choose to leave.
One of the difficulties with being a new head coach is dealing with the transfer portal is losing a lot of your talent. Florida Gators head coach Jon Sumrall saw over 20 players choose to enter the transfer portal. No surprise there, as a mass exodus usually happens with a regime change.
When players leave, the focus shifts to finding players to replace them. That can come in a variety of different ways. High school recruiting is still the base of a great program, but using the transfer portal is becoming more important than ever to fill in the gaps.
The Gators have plenty of gaps they need to fill in the transfer portal, and they will be doing so. Bookmark this page, as we will be tracking every commitment both to and from the program.

Sharif Denson commits to Ole Miss
It’s never great to lose a starter in the secondary, but it’s not much of a surprise. Denson was a good player for the Gators as a starter the last two years, and he will be missed. The Ole Miss Rebels will get a versatile weapon on the back end to help their secondary.
TE Hayden Hansen commits to SEC rival Oklahoma Sooners
Oklahoma Sooners News
Oklahoma Sooners score first big win of the transfer portal by beating out hated SEC rivals for key playmaker at position of need
The Oklahoma Sooners reeled in their first big fish of the transfer portal by adding tight end Hayden Hansen.
TE Lacota Dippre commits to the Gators
With Hansen committing to the Sooners, adding Dippre from James Madison will add much-needed depth. He caught 17 passes for 192 yards and three touchdowns last season, including a touchdown against the Oregon Ducks in the College Football Playoff.
Georgia Tech OL Harrison Moore expected to transfer to Gators
With the Gators losing three offensive linemen to the NFL Draft and more in the transfer portal, this will be a big addition. For Buster Faulkner at Georgia Tech, he started nine games and could factor in on the offensive line in Gainesville.
DL Tarvorise Brown commits to Bill Belichick
Brown was one of the first players to enter the transfer portal, and he is going to play with Bill Belichick in North Carolina.
WR Bailey Stockton follows Buster Faulkner to Gainesville
With the Gators missing out on Eric Singleton Jr., they get a similar player in Stockton to join Buster Faulkner. He comes to Florida with two years of eligibility with a similar style of play that Singleton would have brought, while also having the same kind of continuity.
Wake Forest secures commitment of RB KD Daniels
Daniels got some run this season with the Gators due to injuries at the position, and he ran for 120 yards in the process. He will have three seasons of eligibility remaining.
Baylor DT DK Kalu picks Florida Gainesville
The Gators needed to add multiple defensive linemen in the transfer portal to get the right amount of depth going into the season. He registered just five tackles and 0.5 tackles for loss in two seasons for the Baylor Bears.
LB Grayson Howard signs with USF
Brian Hartline lands his second linebacker in the transfer portal in signing Howard. He was a rotational player for the Gators, and will get a chance to be the guy in Tampa Bay.
Ole Miss land DT Michai Boireau
Boireau, the son of former second-round pick of the Minnesota Vikings Michael Boireau, was a starter for the Gators this past season, and caught the game-winning interception against Mississippi State. He was emerging as one of the best defensive tackles in the SEC, and will stay that way heading to the Ole Miss Rebels.
S Aaron Gates heads to Lexington
Gates was one of the more intriguing players on defense for the Gators. He came back quickly from a torn ACL, only to suffer a shoulder injury. Gates will have two seasons of eligibility remaining, with the possibility of a third due to a medical redshirt.
CB Teddy Foster joins Howard at USF
After not playing much with the Gators, Foster chose to leave and is now heading to South Florida with linebacker Grayson Howard.
Gators land top transfer portal running back
Pryor is one of the best running backs in the transfer portal and has decided to sign with the Gators. Adding a player like Pryor was always going to be a priority to pair with Jadan Baugh. He’s an explosive athlete at the position and has plenty of experience entering his sixth year in college.
QB Aaron Philo officially signs with Florida Gators
Philo has officially signed with the Gators, giving them their potential quarterback of the future. He played for Buster Faulkner the last two years at Georgia Tech, and threw for 373 yards in his one start for the Yellow Jackets.
Phil Trautwein lands first Penn State transfer
With the Gators losing multiple starters on the offensive line, adding TJ Shanahan Jr. is a plus-addition. He joined the Nittany Lions last season after starting his career at Texas A&M, and will have two years of eligibility remaining.
Florida Gators lure Tulane’s special teamers to Florida
The Gators need all three specialists replaced this offseason, and they found two of the three in Durkin and Clark. Both players played for Sumrall last season at Tulane.
Phil Trautwein lands second Penn State transfer
Boyer is a former three-star prospect in the 2024 recruiting class, and spent two seasons with Trautwein at Penn State. He’s got intriguing skills to develop, and he’s likely to compete for the left tackle job.
DT with impressive size Emmanuel Oyebadejo commits to Gators
The Gators are losing a lot up front on the defensive line. They needed to replace Michai Boireau and Caleb Banks. He comes to Gainesville with two years of eligibility remaining and will help the interior of the defensive line.
Tre Wilson commits to LSU Tigers
Wilson was one of the best players on the roster for the Gators over the last three years. The big issue with Wilson isn’t the talent, it’s the injuries. He played in 12 of the last 25 games, and that is a lot of games to miss for any player, let alone a talented one like Wilson. He will have two years of eligibility remaining.
Jordan Castell heads to Kentucky
The best defensive back for the Gators last season decided to enter the transfer portal, and he landed with the Kentucky Wildcats. Castell will have one season of eligibility remaining.
CB Jameer Grimsley signs with Mississippi State
Grimsley was a highly-ranked recruit for the Gators, but he couldn’t get on the field. He started his career with the Alabama Crimson Tide, but joined the Gators quickly.
Gators add WR Micah Mays from Wake Forest
After losing four wide receivers to the transfer portal, adding a couple of depth pieces was a smart idea. Through three seasons, Mays has 34 receptions for 520 yards and four touchdowns. He will have three seasons of eligibility remaining.
Aidan Mizell heads out west to UCLA
Mizell became a fan favorite with the Gators, and was one of the better receivers on the roster. With that being said, he didn’t get a lot of playing time. Heading to UCLA, Mizell should get more playing time with Nico Iamaleava as his quarterback.
Cam Dooley follows Brad White from Kentucky
The Gators had multiple starters leave in the defensive backfield. They already grabbed Coleman, and adding Dooley fortifies the defensive back group.
Florida Gators add junior college commitment
The defensive backfield has seen a bunch of additions, and Owens is the first one from a junior college. Headds some much-needed size to the safety room.
Jayden Woods is back in Orange and Blue

Jon Sumrall is on a recruiting heater right now, as he re-signed another major target in edge rusher Jayden Woods.
This is a massive coup by Sumrall. Woods was priority No. 1 on defense to retain and he got it done. He might be the recruiter that the Gators have needed for years.
Gators get another running back commitment
The Gators needed to find a running mate for Jadan Baugh, and Montgomery is a good option. He was good for the Pirates this past season and will allow the Gators to have a complementary running game.
Florida Gators land another offensive lineman
The Gators needed to add offensive line depth, and Ugorji was a starter as a freshman. He comes to the Gators with four years of eligibility remaining.
Eric Singleton Jr. finally commits to the Gators
Singleton is the top transfer portal recruit for the Gators. He is the 28th-ranked player in the portal and the eighth-ranked wide receiver. He will pair extremely well with Vernell Brown III and Dallas Wilson.
Gators land former four-star TE Luke Harpring
Sumrall hasn’t messed around when it comes to the tight end position, and Harpring was a top recruit a few years ago, ranking one spot behind Amir Jackson as a recruit.
Florida lands Aussie punter
The Aussie punter comes to Gainesville from Southwestern Oklahoma State. He will compete for the job with Clark.

Jon Sumrall is on a recruiting heater right now, as he re-signed another major target in edge rusher Jayden Woods.
Sumrall did it. He found a way to get Woods to stay in Gainesville. Initially, Woods was going to leave to find a school closer to home in a scheme he would thrive in. Sumrall’s proven he’s an elite recruiter, and that bodes well for the Gators long-term.
