Florida Gators have massive weight removed from the football program caused by Billy Napier after latest news
The Jaden Rashada nightmare is over, and the Florida Gators can move on.
The Florida Gators can finally move on from the cloud that was the Jaden Rashada lawsuit. He settled with former head coach Billy Napier, former staffer Marcus Castro Walker, and booster Heath Hathcock. Per On3 Sports, the court records say the terms of the settlement are confidential.
The heart of the lawsuit was the massive NIL deal worth $13.85 million Rashada signed when he flipped from the Miami Hurricanes and committed to the Gators ahead of National Signing Day in November of 2022. It was a huge coup for the Gators at the time, but it didn’t last very long, as he requested his release from the letter of intent shortly after.

It’s been quite the ride for this lawsuit and the Gators. It’s important to note that the football program was not named as a plaintiff, but former head coach Napier was named. It took a long time for it to get here, but it was set to hit court at the end of July.
“In April 2025, Judge M. Casey Rodgers of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida ruled the case would move to discovery. Rodgers ruled Rashada’s tortious interference claims were dismissed while his fraudulent misrepresentation and inducement, conspiracy to commit fraud and negligent misrepresentation claims survived to discovery to go toward trial. All depositions were due to be presented Oct. 1, 2025, and a trial was set to take place July 20, 2026,” wrote On3 Sports’ Nick Schultz.
Rashada ended up going to Arizona State for his true freshman season and he started a few games. He got injured and transferred to the Georgia Bulldogs for 2024, and went to Sacramento State for 2025. He is now enrolled at Mississippi State and will play for the Bulldogs in 2026.
Now that this case is settled, it removes a cloud from above the Gators football program.
