Florida Gators receive expert prediction to land five-star recruit who has been a major priority for the coaching staff
Jon Sumrall’s coaching staff hires are paying off in a big way.
When you look at the Florida Gators currently, it’s been a really good start to the Jon Sumrall era. They are a couple of weeks into spring practice, and the vibes are high. Steve Spurrier and Bob Stoops were at practice this past week, and the Gators are developing well.
Recruiting is picking up at a rapid pace. Sumrall landed his third commitment of the 2026 class in four-star athlete Tramond Collins, who initially committed to former head coach Billy Napier last June. He adds to four-star cornerback Amare Nugent and three-star tight end Jackson Ballinger.
Florida Gators land expert prediction for five-star offensive lineman
One of the priority recruits for the Gators has been five-star offensive lineman Maxwell Hiller. Offensive line coach Phil Trautwein has been a huge factor in his recruitment, starting from the 12 visits the Pennsylvania native made to Penn State where he was the Nittany Lions’ offensive line coach.
That has translated to the Gators, and they received an expert prediction to land the five-star, and are going to be hosting him at the end of the month.
Hiller’s scouting report from Rivals’ Charles Power highlights a fantastic offensive lineman.
“Interior offensive lineman Maxwell Hiller (No. 8) adds a fifth star from Rivals and ascends into the top 10 of the Rivals300. The 6-foot-5 305-pounder had dominant film as a junior at Coatesville (Pa.) High that is deserving of being ranked as the top interior offensive lineman in 2027 at this juncture. Hiller pairs his ready-to-play size with plus movement skills and elite play strength. He locks on defensive linemen and imposes his will, driving defenders out of the play with regularity. Hiller is a nasty, physical competitor who works to finish blocks with authority. The coordination and hand placement also stand out. Given his advanced skill set, Hiller could be equipped for an early impact at the college level.”
Landing Hiller would be a huge coup for the Gators, as they have struggled to land five-star prospects in recent years. This would get the Gators off on the right foot with Sumrall’s tenure, and the momentum will be off the rails.
