Florida Gators receive expert prediction to land high-upside recruit right as spring practice begins
Jon Sumrall’s recruiting is going to the next level.
The Florida Gators have begun head coach Jon Sumrall‘s first spring practice, officially launching the new era for the football program. It’s an exciting time surrounding the program, and it’s bleeding into recruiting.
Over the last few weeks, the Gators have gotten really hot in terms of recruiting. They only have two official commitments in four-star cornerback Amare Nugent and three-star tight end Jackson Ballinger, but they are on the prowl for more talented players, including five-star offensive lineman Maxwell Hiller.
Florida Gators receive expert prediction for top wide receiver
It doesn’t stop there. The Gators have logged an expert prediction from On3 Sports’ Steve Wiltfong to land one of the best wide receivers in the 2027 recruiting class in Elias Pearl.
Being the MVP at an elite camp is a big deal, as the best prospects in the country usually attend those camps. He showed out in a big way to earn that honor, and it could end up improving his already stellar recruiting ranking.
“Elias Pearl turned in a breakout showing at Rivals Camp Miami. He was the top wide receiver on the day, in what as the deepest position group at the event,” wrote Charles Power about his performance. “Pearl was fantastic in every facet throughout Sunday’s workout. He was a crisp route-runner in drills and consistently showed strong, reliable hands at the catch point. Pearl also strung together some of the more dominant 1-on-1’s we saw from any pass-catcher on the day. He shook a defensive back out of his shoes with a nasty out-and-up for an easy touchdown and later scored on a vertical route during the best-on-best period at the end of the camp. Pearl is a smooth, natural mover with a high level of coordination and route-running ability. He’s coming off a big junior season at Port Charlotte (Fla.) High that saw him account for 1,305 yards and 24 touchdowns from scrimmage.”
He is currently the 115th-ranked recruit nationally per the Rivals’ Industry ranking, while being the 18th-ranked wide receiver and the 12th-ranked recruit in the state of Florida. He currently resides in Port Charlotte, which is less than 200 miles from campus.
Landing Pearl would be huge for the Gators to get this recruiting class started.
