Florida Gators head coach Jon Sumrall is not wasting time with the transfer portal open, and they already have an expert prediction. Both On3 Sports and 247Sports have made expert predictions for the Gators to land Georgia Tech quarterback Aaron Philo.

Philo has a connection to the Gators, as he played with offensive coordinator Buster Faulkner at Georgia Tech. That connection could prove huge for the Gators, especially with how talented the wide receiver room is.

Aaron Philo will have an elite group of weapons in Gainesville

Heading to Gainesville is a good path for Philo. The soon-to-be redshirt sophomore has already played two seasons for Faulkner, and continuity is a good thing. He was an explosive passer as a high school recruit, breaking passing records set by Trevor Lawrence. He only started one game at Georgia Tech, with Haynes King missing time due to injury. In that start against Gardner Webb, Philo completed 21-28 passes for 373 yards, one touchdown, and one interception.

Philo has plenty of arm talent and can attack all three levels of the field.

Coming to Florida, Philo is going to have a bevy of weapons at his disposal. The Gators have re-signed wide receivers Dallas Wilson and Vernell Brown III to deals for the 2026 season, and they both exploded onto the scene with promising games in their first college football season.

The Gators are still waiting to see if running back Jadan Baugh will stay for the 2026 season, but Sumrall has spared no expense to keep him. If Baugh comes back, Philo is going to have everything you need to take the next step.

Will Philo be an elite starting quarterback for the Gators? That’s far from certain, but make no mistake about it, the talent is there. If Sumrall and Faulkner hits on Philo, it will go a long way for the Gators.
