Florida Gators release initial roster ahead of spring practice with some significant changes and one standing out

The Florida Gators are about to take the field for head coach Jon Sumrall‘s first spring practice this month, and they have released their initial roster for the season. Within the roster are a few changes, mainly with jersey numbers.

The biggest changes come from the key returning players on the roster. Wide receiver Vernell Brown III and safety Bryce Thornton are the biggest changes, as both players will be wearing the number one next season.

Florida Gators announce jersey changes

Wearing the number one has been a big deal at the University of Florida. Players like Percy Harvin, Kadarius Toney, and Vernon Hargreaves III have all donned the jersey for the Gators, and the honor now goes to both Brown and Thornton.

They aren’t the only jersey number changes going into the season. Edge rusher Jayden Woods will switch from 15 to zero this season, and he’s far from the only one with a new jersey number. Here are all of the new numbers:
