After seeing multiple players enter the transfer portal, including quarterback DJ Lagway, all of the Florida Gators’ attention has turned to running back Jadan Baugh.

The final game of the season saw Baugh emerge as the best returning backs in the country, as he destroyed the Florida State Seminoles for 266 yards and two touchdowns. He was explosive and powerful in multiple facets.

Jadan Baugh rumored to be entering transfer portal

There are concerns that Baugh will end up hitting the transfer portal with other high-profile players, and those are growing by the day. Horns247 is reporting that Baugh is expected to enter the transfer portal.

Now, this isn’t something that’s coming out of nowhere. Baugh is a really talented player who could thrive at just about every school, and the top schools are lining up to get him. The Ohio State Buckeyes and Texas Longhorns have already been circling Baugh, and both could use a lead back next season.

The Buckeyes do have Bo Jackson, who has emerged as a true freshman, but head coach Ryan Day has historically used two running backs. TreVeyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins thrived in the system when they won a national championship last season.

Running backs coach could be a deciding factor for Baugh

With the Longhorns, the decision to transfer there could boil down to one thing: running backs coach. Baugh built a relationship with new Texas running backs coach Jabbar Juluke, who recruited Baugh at Florida. That bond could be the deciding factor in where he ends up playing next season.

In turn, who becomes the Gators’ running backs coach could end up persuading Baugh to stay. Even in the world of NIL, relationships with coaches still matter significantly, and the link to Texas exemplifies that.

There is still time for the Gators to re-sign Baugh for the 2026 season, as he will be paramount to their success.
