It’s not often that you see a player commit after decommitting from the same school.

Florida Gators head coach Jon Sumrall has been doing a really good job with recruiting. They are in the market for multiple five-star recruits, and even got the top overall recruit, defensive lineman Jalen Brewster, on campus last weekend during spring practice.

The Gators are just four practices into Sumrall’s tenure, and things seem to be going incredibly well across the board, especially on the recruiting trail. On Wednesday, Sumrall did something that his predecessor Billy Napier was not able to do: get a commitment from someone who had already decommitted.

Florida Gators land commitment from Tramond Collins

Back in June, the Gators landed a commitment from four-star athlete Tramond Collins. Shortly after Napier was fired, Collins rescinded his commitment. On Wednesday, he re-committed to the Gators and coach Sumrall.

Collins is a four-star athlete out of Cottondale, Florida, who ranks 106th in the nation and the fourth-best athlete in the Rivals’ Industry Ranking. He is likely heading to the Gators as a wide receiver with his lead recruiter being wide receivers coach Marcus Davis, and he offers good size at the position, coming in at 6-2 and 185 pounds.

It’s not much of a surprise that Collins came back to Florida, as he’s visited a whopping six times, with the last one being March 3rd. Being that Cottondale is only 200 miles away from campus, it’s not a surprise.

When you turn on Collins’ film he’s an explosive player with the ball in his hands. He has plus play strength to run through tackles in the open field, and the athleticism to outrun them all. Having hat kind of juice is huge, and will translate to the next level.

Collins joins a wide receiver room with a fantastic recruiting class this past December, with Davian Groce, Justin Williams, and Marquez Daniel coming to campus. Groce has already shown a lot of juice with his ability in spring practice.

He becomes the third player committed to Sumrall’s class of 2027 with four-star cornerback Amare Nugent and three-star tight end Jackson Ballinger.
