For the first time since his introductory press conference, Florida Gators head coach Jon Sumrall spoke to the media in an organized manner on campus. He did speak to a few reporters while attending the Gators’ basketball game against the Auburn Tigers

He held a press conference because it’s National Signing Day, but that hasn’t been the same the last few years due to early signing day, and the priority of getting players on campus early

Jon Sumrall has a hilarious line about Tim Tebow

One thing we are seeing more often in college football is players going through the judicial system to regain eligibility. Ole Miss Rebels quarterback Trinidad Chambliss and Tennessee Volunteers quarterback Joey Aguilar are both in the process of trying to play one more season in college.

Sumrall had no issue having fun with this during his press conference, claiming they were going to try to bring back Tim Tebow.

“We’re going to file a temporary restraining order to bring back Tim Tebow… I don’t know what the hell is going on with all of that. We’ll see if Tebow gets his years back.”

Some of the players either returning or trying to return to college are getting a little bit absurd. Chambliss and Aguilar have valid reasons to get more eligibility. The biggest reason this is a story is what’s happening with the Alabama Crimson Tide basketball team.

Center Charles Bediako returned to play for the Crimson Tide after playing in the G-League, something that is unprecedented due to it being a professional league. Gators fans let him know about it this past weekend at the O-Dome.

Tebow isn’t coming back to play in Gainesville, especially since he naturally exhausted his eligibility, but it would be great to have him back under center. He was the starter for three seasons, a part of two National Championship-winning teams, and won the Heisman Trophy in 2007.

Sumrall has no issue calling things out, and humor seems to be his way of doing it.
