Jon Sumrall secures huge transfer portal commitment that elevates Florida Gators among best in the nation

The Florida Gators landed Georgia Tech WR Eric Singleton Jr. in the transfer portal, as Jon Sumrall fortifies the Gators WR corps among the best in the nation.

Florida Gators head coach Jon Sumrall has been on a heater when it comes to recruiting in the transfer portal, and he landed the biggest addition to date with the commitment of former Auburn Tigers and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets wide receiver Eric Singleton Jr.

Multiple sources had told A to Z Sports in December that this move was going to happen, and it looked in doubt with Singleton announcing his intentions to enter the NFL Draft. That shifted quickly, and he is now heading to Gainesville to reunite with offensive coordinator Buster Faulkner, who recruited him to Georgia Tech in 2023.

Auburn Tigers WR Eric Singleton Jr. commits to Florida Gators

After spending the first two years with Georgia Tech, Singleton transferred to Auburn and was explosive opposite of Cam Coleman with 48 receptions for 714 yards and a career-high six touchdowns. The 5-10, 180-pound speedster is a great addition to the wide receiver room with Vernell Brown III and Dallas Wilson also in the wide receiver room.

Singleton is the 28th-ranked player and 8th-ranked wide receiver in the transfer portal, and will immediately elevate the wide receiver room that lost Tre Wilson to the LSU Tigers and Aidan Mizell to the UCLA Bruins. This wide receiver group will be one of the best for the Gators in recent memory, and quarterback Aaron Philo, who played with Singleton at Georgia Tech, will be in a good position to succeed immediately.

Sumrall has been on a heater in the transfer portal, with Singleton being his 17th commitment, ranking the Gators 19th in the transfer portal rankings per 247 Sports. They don’t appear to be done either
