Lane Kiffin makes bold statement about the Florida Gators head coaching job, and it says everything

The Florida Gators want Ole Miss Rebels head coach Lane Kiffin to be their next head coach after firing Billy Napier in October. Everyone knows that Kiffin is the top target for athletic director Scott Stricklin, and watching Saturday’s game, it’s easy to see why.
Even though he’s the top target, it becomes a complicated decision for Kiffin and the Gators. Florida fired Napier on Oct. 19th, and has to find a head coach sooner rather than later. Ole Miss, on the other hand, is a near lock to make the College Football Playoff with just one loss, making it a very complicated situation for Kiffin.

The fact that Kiffin is the Gators’ top option and they played each other after Napier was fired created quite a bit of drama leading into the game. He was asked about the job after the game, and gave an answer that only he could give.
“I love what we’re doing here. Today was awesome. To even talk about it right now would be so disrespectful to our players and what they did today,” said Kiffin. “I love it here at Ole Miss.”
It’s a very simple, yet correct answer. Discussing taking another head coaching job immediately after securing a win would be disrespectful to his players. It’s also far from certain that Kiffin will either stay or go. That aspect is a big deal as we get closer to the College Football Playoff. There is one problem with not saying anything about the job: it will continue to linger over the Ole Miss program.
The longer this goes on without Kiffin addressing it and saying it’s not happening, the more he will continue to be linked to the Gators. That’s good for all of the Florida fans who want him, and especially for Kiffin, who will get a very hefty pay raise out of this.
As things stand, we are in for at least two more weeks of this, and it could end up being longer. The big deal for the Gators comes in terms of recruiting, with early signing day being just after the end of the season. They will want to know sooner for that fact alone.
