The hard work of Florida Gators head coach Billy Napier has paid off in a major way.
Earlier on Thursday, the Gators received an expert prediction from On3 Sports' Steve Wiltfong that they would land a commitment from elite linebacker Izayia Williams. Less than 10 hours later, Williams officially committed to the Gators.

Williams is a big commitment for the Gators, especially with how few commits they have. Williams is the 12th-ranked player in the class per On3 Sports and the third overall commit. The other two commits for the Gators:
- QB Will Griffin: 4-star
- S Devin Jackson: 3-star
The Gators did lose four-star cornerback Jaelen Waters as he decommitted when Will Harris left the program to go coach at Miami. It was a pretty sizable loss, but losing out on Harris was still a major blow. Williams will be a solid player for defensive coordinator Ron Roberts.
Williams has had an interesting recruitment. Florida is the fourth school he's been committed to, but it feels like the right one, as he told On3 Sports' Chad Simmons that he grew up a fan.
“I grew up a fan of the Gators and I can’t turn the opportunity to play at Florida down,” Williams told On3. “Florida is a top public school academically and I can get a great education there. The coaches have recruited me really hard and Florida is where I want to be.
“I can’t lie, as soon as Florida offered, I knew back then. I grew up loving the program. As a kid, I thought I was going to be a quarterback, so I followed Tim Tebow and I loved the Gators.
“Florida was the 10th school to offer me. That meant a lot. As soon as I got the Florida offer, that is who I was thinking about. Syracuse, Florida State and others are great schools and I like their coaches, but I have known for a while that I was going to Florida.”
The Gators now have the 12th-ranked recruiting class for 2026.
