Of course, it helps when you have a quarterback like DJ Lagway ready to roll for the next two years. His growth over the last few games of the season wasn't just substantial, it was tremendous. The projected growth is so large that it's not absurd to talk about him as a potential All-American or Heisman Trophy Candidate.
Gators landed expert prediction for top 2026 recruit
The 2026 recruiting cycle hasn't quite gone as they had planned so far. Right now, the Gators only have two recruits committed for the 2026 class, but it's early which means it's not time to panic.
They are still in play for many top recruits at their respective positions and just received an expert predictions from On3 Sports' Steve Wiltfong to land the number two wide receiver in the 2026 class Naeem Burroughs.
I like where Florida stands with Naeem Burroughs. They’re battling Clemson, USC and Texas for the No. 7 pass catcher in the land. the Gators looked like the favorite in January at the Under Armour All-America Game and nothing has changed since.
Burroughs is a talented wide receiver who is a consensus four-star out of Jacksonville, Florida. On3 Sports has Burroughs as the 20th-best recruit in the nation and the fourth-best in the state of Florida. The Gators also have an 87.7% chance of landing Burroughs and it shouldn't be too much of a surprise. The Gators have hosted him five times on visits, including a sixth time scheduled on June 6th. Only two other schools have more than one visit: Wisconsin and Florida State both have three.
The DJ Lagway effect is in full force, especially after they landed Vernell Brown III and Dallas Wilson in the 2025 recruiting cycle.
