Billy Napier and the Florida Gators have been working really hard over the last few months on the recruiting trail. One of the players they have targeted is four-star defensive lineman JaReylan McCoy out of Tupelo, Mississippi.

He's been a major target for the Gators, especially after he decommitted from LSU. McCoy is now down to his top-three schools and the Gators are one of them.

The one really interesting thing about McCoy's recruitment is how things are currently projected on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. Ole Miss is currently the clubhouse leader for McCoy at 94.7%, but he wasn't included in McCoy's top three.

One reason why Ole Miss was the leader? He's visited campus a whopping 11 times with a 12th visit (this one official) scheduled for June 13th. It makes sense why McCoy's visited that many times, as campus is just 42 miles away.

McCoy is the 15th-ranked defensive lineman who can play across the defensive line. At nearly 6'7, McCoy can add on weight to his 245 lb frame if the Gators would prefer to kick him inside instead of playing him on the edge.

The scouting report on McCoy highlights someone with incredible tools who is still putting it together.

Big-featured defensive lineman with some alignment flex that has put some impressive flashes on tape over the years, but one that’s got a ways to go if he’s going to reach his potential. Saw production dip as a junior while working in the rotation for a Tupelo squad that captured a Mississippi 6A title, but found some success generating a rush on the inside in an odd front. At his best when he can create an advantage with his 36-inch arms, but needs to get better at engaging his lower half and learn how to consistently play with a flat back as there are too many times when he gets washed away at the point of attack. Should be viewed as a developmental prospect that’s going to need to get in the squat rack and buy into the process, but one with a higher ceiling given the frame and lateral movement skills.

McCoy is set to commit on July 1st, and the Gators will have a chance to make another great impression before then.
