During the tenure of Florida Gators head coach Billy Napier, they have done a really good job in targeting high-upside players in the trenches. The 2026 class is loaded with those players, including four-star defensive lineman JaReylan McCoy and three-star offensive tackle Chancellor Campbell.
When you take a look at the recruiting classes for the Gators, they have plenty of high star rankings in the trenches, but plenty of players who were unheralded have made an impact. That is a testament of really good coaching and development.
Napier and his staff potentially have found their next guy in three-star edge rusher Corey Howard out of Valdosta, Georgia. He visited campus on May 30th, nine days after getting a scholarship offer. He was initially set to commit on Friday, but has pushed it back to next Tuesday, June 24th.
The interesting thing with Howard is who the Gators are going up against, as they will be battling Georgia to secure his commitment. Howard has focused in on those two schools.
His long frame is something the Gators have historically targeted. McCoy has a similar frame, as did former Gators Princely Umanmielen. That frame paired with plus athleticism can give offensive lines fits around the edge.
Will Howard end up picking the Gators? Tuesday is the day, but they could use another couple defensive linemen to add to the 2026 recruiting class.
