The recruiting efforts for the Florida Gators are continuing ot ramp up over the spring and into the summer. They will need those efforts to star bearing fruit, as the 2026 class is now down to two players after the decommitment of safety Devin Jackson earlier this month.
Head coach Billy Napier has only two commitments right now in the 2026 class:
- Four-star linebacker Izayia Williams
- Four-star quarterback Will Griffin
There are many targets the Gators have, but they haven't been able to seal the deal on them as of yet.
Florida Gators make elite CBs top six
The secondary has been an area the Gators need to target, and they continue to look at elite cornerbacks. They are in the top six schools of four-star cornerback Chauncey Kennon out of Sarasota, Florida.
The 6'1, 170 lbs cornerback is currently ranked as the sixth-best cornerback in the country, sixth-best player in the state of Florida, and the 41st overall recruit by On3 Sports. Kennon has been a target for the Gators for some time, as he made his first two unofficial visits of his recruitment last summer to Gainesville.
After the Gators made a change with their secondary coach to Deron Wilson, they needed to make an impact. Kennon was back on campus this past weekend and came away impressed.
“I liked coach Wilson, the new (secondary) coach,” Kennon told Gators Online. “The last time I went, they had coach (Will) Harris, so just getting a feel for the new coaching staff was great. His message was to get better every day no matter what it is. I feel like he’s a great coach and very genuine.
“I had seen everything already, but I had to go through everything else again so my uncle could see it. “The GatorMade program, that stood out to me. I didn’t get to learn a lot about that the last time.”
We don't know when Kennon plans on making his commitment, but the Gators are in a great spot.
