Everyone knows that the Florida Gators have one of the best quarterback talents in the country when it comes to DJ Lagway. It was evident when he was the number two overall quarterback when he played at Willis High School in Texas, and even more so when he went 6-1 as a starter as a true freshman.

People are taking notice, including former Gators quarterback and Heisman Trophy runner up Rex Grossman, who had some nice things to say about Lagway and his future.

"He played great and he showed that the games were not too big for him as a true freshman coming in there with all this hype," Grossman said, via CardPlayer in an interview provided to Swamp247.

"He's a tough guy to bring down, but he stays in the pocket, kind of like a [Daunte] Culpepper type. People grabbing at his legs and he just kind of gets away a little bit and throws the ball on the money. I'm excited as a Florida Gator fan. We've got some pretty good wide receiver recruits and we won our last four or five games."

The comparison to Daunte Culpepper is a very lofty one, but it's also one that makes a ton of sense. Lagway isn't quite as tall or large as Culpepper was, as he stood 6'4 and 265 lbs and looked more like a linebacker than some of the best in the league, but he has plenty of size for the position.

What Lagway possesses is the combination of size, elite arm talent, and ability to run the football at a high clip. Being able to combine all three gives you an inherit advantage over everyone else.

What will really help Lagway take the next step is the experience he had post hamstring injury. Lagway's mobility was shot and he had to win from the pocket. Well, he grew considerably and has many in the industry considering Lagway a potential favorite for the Heisman Trophy and a College Football Playoff berth.

The most impressive thing about Lagway isn't necessarily his ability, but it's how others are gravitating toward him in a positive way. Grossman knows a thing or two about high-level quarterback play in The Swamp and it means something coming from him.
