Florida State Seminoles freshman is leaving his teammates in utter awe after showing off in the first few weeks of fall camp
Florida State freshman Micahi Danzy has been doing some impressive things at fall camp.
Somehow, the Florida State Seminoles could only win two games in 2024, yet they were able to continue their recruiting at a high level. They finished with a top-20 class for 2025, and currently have the 15th-ranked class.
But Mike Norvell has always recruited well. He recruits kids who have a chance to be special, especially guys that others may be undervaluing. And that’s a big reason why he is such a players’ coach, and his guys love him as much as they do.
And so, the 2024 class, while it wasn’t otherworldly, had some really good players in it — guys who had to end up playing last year. That ended up helping them get the experience that they needed, and will only make the young guys better.
One guy we saw a bit, and a guy we should see more in 2025, was freshman Micahi Danzy. Now, we will be seeing him in a different role than what we saw last year in his four games he appeared in, but there is a chance we will see him significantly more.
The experience he got last year is a big reason why he will play more this upcoming season. Well, that, and the fact that he’s blowing everyone away in fall camp.
Micahi Danzy is blowing everyone away
Danzy is an athlete and a guy who is blowing his veteran teammates away. You better believe that he will have some opportunities in fall camp.
“I don’t even know if he has a ceiling, he’s so freakishly athletic…That dude can do literally anything he wants to do,” wide receiver Duce Robinson said regarding Micahi Danzy and his switch from running back to wide receiver.
Micahi Danzy, a freshman from Tallahassee, is a standout dual-sport athlete at Florida State, where he is competing in football and track. On the football side of things, you could say that the track background is extremely beneficial for him, and we have already heard about some of that speed being used.
A four-star recruit, he was a top athlete in the nation, No. 6 by On3, and Florida’s No. 30 prospect. In high school, he rushed for 3,019 yards and 37 touchdowns, with a standout 1,809-yard, 17-touchdown junior year, leading his team to the 2022 FHSAA 2S state championship game. On the track, he won FHSAA 2A state titles in the 200 and 400 meters in 2023 and 2024, with personal bests of 10.57 in the 100 meters, 20.88 in the 200, and 45.88 in the 400.
So, yes, he is a freak athlete, just like Robinson said.
In 2024, Danzy played football as their running back, appearing in four games while preserving their redshirt status. He had two carries for five yards and a 38-yard reception against Charleston Southern. In spring 2025, he switched to wide receiver to utilize his elite speed in FSU’s offense under new coordinator Gus Malzahn. His 24+ mph speed and 335-pound power clean earned him No. 68 on The Athletic’s 2025 College Football Freaks List, though he’s still developing as a receiver. And, he’s only going to get better.
So far, he is putting everyone in awe during fall camp. There’s no promise that he will get on the field a ton in 2025, but he will have a role, similar to one used as a gadget guy. Maybe the Seminoles use him on Jet Sweeps or End Around plays. Or, maybe they really like him in the RPO game with wide receiver screens.
Just like Robinson said, the kid has the ability to do whatever he wants — that’s the kind of athlete he is, and that’s the kind of person he is. But he just has to put it all together.
