The Florida State Seminoles are heading into a season where another two-win season just cannot happen. If it does, FSU will be looking for another head coach for next season, and Mike Norvell will be headed elsewhere.

Luckily, his roster looks pretty good on paper. The Seminoles have upgraded several positions, including he quarterback position, where Thomas Castellanos is a much better QB than D.J. Uiagalelei, and it really isn’t even close. Now, Castellanos is not a top-tier QB, but he’s good, and he can get it done with his arms and legs.

They have also added many more weapons around the QB this year, with Gavin Sawchuk at the RB spot, and of course, the projected starting receivers are all incoming transfers, with Jayvan Boggs, the true freshman WR, a guy who could get some big playing time, too.

The offense looks good on paper. When you ask the players how it looks on the field, it’s so much better than most of them thought it would be.

Duce Robinson likes the Florida State offense

“I’m more excited about our offensive potential now than when I got here,” wide receiver Duce Robinson told reporters on Wednesday to start off fall camp. “Seeing the talent that we have, the players I have around me, being in the offense that we run — I think our ceiling is incredibly high.”

Duce Robinson left USC, where offensive genius Lincoln Riley struggled on that side of the ball last year, and chose to go to the school that his father played at. It was more of a transfer portal decision he made to make himself happy again. He certainly didn’t expect the offense to look how it does now, so that’s just an added bonus.

Robinson is truly a wide receiver in a tight end’s body, only he will probably play wide receiver. He’s a great possession catch guy, is super athletic, and can go and high-point the ball and come down with it. The Seminoles got themselves a receiver that can really help them win games in 2025.

And when you add in Gus Malzahn as the offensive coordinator, and the weapons they have added, it’s pretty clear this team will be much better on that side of the ball than they were last year. Then again, that shouldn’t be hard at all, considering how bad they were.
