Florida State Seminoles get bad news after beating Alabama, but it couldn’t have come at a better time
The Florida State Seminoles are going to be without TE Randy Pittman.
The next few games for the Florida State Seminoles are not going to be anywhere near as big as the one they just played. Beating the Alabama Crimson Tide was their biggest game on the schedule, aside from perhaps Miami or Florida. The next few games are not as big, with opponents that are easily beatable. That’s why, if they were going to deal with some injuries, at least they’re happening now and not later. Head coach Mike Norvell revealed that TE Randy Pittman is going to miss some time.
Seminoles to be without TE Randy Pittman for a few weeks
We all watched the win over Alabama. FSU looked like the more physical team throughout, and in every aspect of the game, too. When you play like that and lay it all on the line, you’re going to have some injuries. The Seminoles have an injury to a pretty important player in Randy Pittman.
“Randy Pittman will be out for this week, and probably the next couple,” Norvell told reporters on-site on Wednesday. “We will see what it all looks like. He was dealing with an injury in camp and was able to manage that for the Alabama game, but he will be out for some time. This will open opportunities for [others]… Randy will be back here very soon.”
Pittman is the starting tight end for the Seminoles, who only had two catches for 18 yards against Alabama, but was very crucial in the run blocking for the Seminoles. And, Pittman can catch the ball if he needs to. At UCF last year, he finished with over 400 receiving yards on 32 catches, so he can be a threat in the passing game. However, the Seminoles’ game plan against Bama was to run the ball.
This is going to allow the Seminoles to see what they have in sophomore tight ends Landen Thomas and Amaree Williams. With the Seminoles set to play East Texas A&M this week and Kent State next week, this is the perfect time to have some injuries, if they were to have any, especially to a starter. These are games that FSU should win pretty handily. But after those two games, they play Virginia for their first conference game. That game is very winnable, but it’s a conference game, so they still have to stay on their toes.
Then, the Noles will play Miami, which is currently ranked and looks to be a great team. That’s when they will need as many healthy people as possible.
