ESPN analysts agree on bowl projection for the Seminoles that would be very convenient for many Florida State fans
FSU could be in line for an intriguing bowl opportunity – if they can take care of business on their end.
Florida State picked up a crucial victory on Saturday night with an inspiring performance in a 42-7 win over Wake Forest. The win ended a four-game slide – all ACC losses – and was the Noles’ first ACC win since a 14-9 win over Cal back in September 2024.
The win also moved FSU to 4-4 on the season and two games shy of bowl eligibility. With four games left, there’s a path for them to get there.
ESPN’s Mark Schlabach and Kyle Bonagura project the Seminoles to play in the Gasparilla Bowl in Tampa on December 19. Bonagura has the Noles’ opponent as USF, while Schlabach has them facing UConn.

Florida State vs. USF would be intriguing for obvious regions. The Bulls have been one of the best Group of Five teams this year. They have a win over Florida in the Swamp and remain in the mix for the College Football Playoff. Alex Golesh’s team would provide an ample challenge, and in Tampa, where there are plenty of Florida State fans, such a matchup would draw a large interest.
But FSU has to get there first. They have a trip this Saturday to Clemson to face a Tigers team that has lost back-to-back ACC home games to SMU and Duke. Virginia Tech follows the next week in Tallahassee. FSU then finish their regular season slate on the road at NC State and then in their annual finale against the Florida Gators.
If FSU can repeat the performance we saw on Saturday against the Demon Deacons, a bowl game seems like a viable option. We’ll find out soon enough if they can carry that momentum on the road.
