Jameis Winston is unquestionably an FSU legend. The former Florida State quarterback claimed the Heisman Trophy and led the Seminoles to a 14-0 record that the school’s most recent national championship in 2013.

Now, another Winston is set to come to Tallahassee and leave his legacy on the Garnet and Gold. 2026 WR Jonah Winston, brother of Jameis, committed to Mike Norvell on Saturday, which made a big day for Norvell after a 31-17 upset win over Alabama even better.

Winston, from Hoover, Alabama, is a three-star prospect per Rivals/On3 Sports, checking in at #696 in their industry ratings, #104 wide receiver, and #24 player in the state of Alabama. 247 Sports composite ratings have him as a three-star and the #725 overall recruit, #106 wide receiver, and #26 player in the state for 2026.

However, ratings systems often miss, but programs have a keener eye for talent, and Winston holds offers from a number of notable schools, including Alabama, Auburn, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Missouri, Colorado, Arkansas, UCF, and Maryland, among others.

At 5’10”, 165 pounds, Winston is listed as a wide receiver, but he has been deployed at other positions – QB and defensive back – for Hoover. That versatility will only help his cause to find a place to help contribute for the Seminoles once he arrives on campus.

Nobody is expecting Winston to fill the shoes of his brother, who threw for 7964 yards and 65 touchdowns to 28 interceptions in his two years in Tallahassee. But if he can contribute and help Florida State find its way back to national prominence, he will certainly be appreciated in his own way by the Seminole fan base.
