Seminoles have a prime opportunity to land one of the best defenders in the 2027 recruiting class over other blue-bloods
The Seminoles could use him.
The Florida State Seminoles have a top-15 recruiting class for 2027. They have four stars and some three-star recruits who could end up being higher-rated by the time these guys get on campus. However, they are far from done, with only five commits so far. But it’s early, and another elite prospect could be a Noles’ commit soon.
However, the Seminoles have a ton of work to do against other blue-blood teams. But, it’s not out of the realm of possibilities that the Noles land four-star defensive lineman Mitchell Turner, as they landed in his top-8 along with the LSU Tigers, Alabama Crimson Tide, Texas Longhorns, Ohio State Buckeyes, Ole Miss Rebels, Florida Gators, and Mississippi State Bulldogs.
FSU is behind in the recruitment as compared to others. However, if they didn’t have a chance, they wouldn’t be in his top 8. So, whoever gets Turner, what are they getting?
2027 four-star DL Mitchell Turner is a stud
We all know that Mississippi produces some elite talent when it comes to football, and Turner could be the next big name. Turner is a fast-rising four-star defensive lineman from Louisville, Mississippi, who has recently emerged as the top-ranked prospect in the state for the 2027 recruiting cycle. He’s the No. 6-ranked defensive lineman in the class.
Standing 6’3, 275 pounds, Turner has garnered interest from pretty much everyone in the country. His junior season in 2025 was statistically dominant, with some sources reporting he recorded over 100 tackles, 15.5 sacks, and 40+ tackles for loss.
His versatility allows him to disrupt play from both the interior tackle position and as a heavy edge rusher, making him a nightmare for offensive coordinators to account for in the run and pass games. The Seminoles need someone like that in their 2027 class, where they currently only have one defensive lineman in three-star edge rusher Anthony Cavallaro.
There’s still a lot of work to be done.
