Times have been tough in Tallahassee since Week 1 of the 2025 season, where FSU beat Alabama 31-17 to open what Seminole fans hoped was a big step forward from a dismal 2024. As it turns out, it was a mirage in a desert of further despair on the way to a 5-7 mark.

The transfer portal has also not brought welcome news this week, with at least 25 players expected to hit the portal and leave, including notable names like Gavin Sawchuck, Randy Pittman, Jr., Ashlynd Barker, and others.

However, for once, something broke FSU’s way as it relates to player retention, and it’s the biggest one that Seminole fans could ask for.

Wide receiver Duce Robinson will be back in 2026 for Florida State, per ESPN college football insider Pete Thamel.

WR Duce Robinson will return to FSU for 2026 season

Robinson arrived at FSU last offseason after spending two seasons with USC, and it was a big year for the former Trojan. Robinson totaled 56 catches for 1081 yards and 6 touchdowns, earning First-Team All-ACC honors in the process.

It’s not clear who will be under center in 2026 for the Seminoles with Thomas Castellanos off to the NFL Draft and Brock Glenn entering the transfer portal. However, whoever ends up winning the job will have one of the best wide receivers in all of college football to throw to. That’ll be a helpful sales job for potential candidates in the transfer portal. And it’s a major victory that Norvell can only hope helps start some positive momentum in the other direction for a program that badly needs it.
