The Florida State Seminoles battled back late in their game against the Miami Hurricanes, but it was far too late. Starting the game slowly and turning the ball over is what killed their chances to win a big-time game at home.

This home loss to the Seminoles’ biggest rival ever showed a lot about what type of team the Noles are in 2025 – one that is completely different from what we all thought after three games into the season. The players know where they went wrong, and one of the most important guys on the team shared a raw moment after the game.

“I told the guys that this one is on me. This loss is on me. I apologize to the team, I apologize to this community, the alumni, the past players…it’s everybody. I told the guys that I have to play better, and I have to be better,” Castellanos told reporters after the game.

Seminoles are going to need a better version of Tommy Castellanos

Even in their loss to the Virginia Cavaliers, the Seminoles looked like they had one of, if not the very best, quarterbacks in the entire country. Castellanos made so many insane plays to keep the Noles in that game, and even to get them back into it.

And, we cannot leave out the game-tying throw he made to Randy Pittman, and even the throw he made to Duce Robinson that didn’t end up counting.

This game was completely different. Yes, the fourth quarter was a good showing for him, but in these games, you have to put together a full four quarters of good play, most of the time. Castellanos threw two interceptions in the game, and the Seminoles as a whole had three turnovers with no takeaways. You won’t win most of the time playing that way.

Also, give credit to Miami’s defense, because they are legit. The Noles just need to regroup and really try to win out the rest of the season.
