Mike Norvell and the Seminoles accomplished what was likely one of their biggest and most important tasks this offseason
The Seminoles needed Boggs back in 2026.
After the first week of the transfer portal’s opening, the Florida State Seminoles face uncertainty. Since Jan. 2, several key players—including high-potential wide receiver Jayvan Boggs—entered the portal. Now, Boggs has decided to withdraw and return, giving Mike Norvell and the Seminoles one of their top offseason targets.
The Seminoles get Boggs back as an important piece of their future
Boggs is a freak of nature when it comes to athleticism. Last offseason, wide receiver Duce Robinson called him one of the most athletic people he’s ever seen. With an MLB Hall of Famer as a father, Boggs has the work ethic and IQ that coaches value. Although he didn’t get much playing time, his significance for the team’s future is clear.
The soon-to-be sophomore played in eight games last season. He played through injuries for the first half of the season, and maybe the entire season. Somehow, even on that terrible team as a true freshman, he managed to finish his first season with just 107 receiving yards on nine catches and a receiving touchdown.
Boggs returns, aiming to compete for a starting spot in the offense. Robinson is expected to start as one of the nation’s top receivers, and Micahi Danzy will likely join him. After those two, there’s an open spot to compete for, especially with the departure of Lawayne McCoy and Elijah Moore to the portal and others leaving due to eligibility.
FSU has true freshmen Jasen Lopez, Devin Carter, Efrem White, Brandon Bennett, Darryon Williams, and Jonah Winston all coming in. They will still need to add some more bodies in the room through the portal, but one of their most important tasks has been accomplished. Boggs is back, and his return should give FSU a key contributor in 2026, potentially impacting both sides of the ball as many have anticipated.
